BYRNE, Joseph, 78, husband of the late Carolyn (Knibbs)
Byrne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, (November 16, 2005) surrounded by his loving family at his home in Florida. Born March 16, 1927 in Lowell, MA, son of the late John E. and Henrietta J. Byrne. He resided in Unionville for many years prior to moving to Florida. He was a machinist at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Southington for 33 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served with distinction in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations in World War II. Paul was one of six brothers to serve at sea all at the same time during World War II. He leaves his loving companion, Doris Johnson of Fruitland Park, FL; seven beloved children, Sandy J. Holinka and her husband Edward of Unionville, Paul J. Byrne, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Torrington, Kenneth A. Byrne and his wife Cheryl of Burlington, David F. Byrne and his wife Lauwrina of Unionville, Judy Sferrazza and her husband Sam of Somers, Guy E. Byrne and his wife Nancy of Plainville, Kelly F. Breton and her husband Butch of Torrington; 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Monday, November 21st from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in The Ahern Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22nd at 2 p.m. Burial with full military honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Avon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston St., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.
