We know from his mother's obituary, that Charles was living at Orchard, Nebraska, USA in 1895.

The following obituary was given to me by Ritchie Thomas, Charles' great-grandson. Ritchie tells me it was taken from from the local newspaper of Ogalala, Nebraska:
Brother Charles Cordon Knibbs was born April 28th, 1856 at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, one of three sons to Charles and June Knibbs.
As a hard working law-abiding young man he moved to Verona, Illinois.
February 10th, 1880 he married Miss Clara A. Lincoln of that place.
To this union four children were born, Elmer Knibbs, January 28th, 1881, died in ApriI, 1881, Wilber Delbert Knibbs, March 1st, 1882. LeRoy P Knibbs July 24th, 1885, died January 27th, 1906. Winifred I. Rodman, nee Knibbs, January 1st, 1888. Of the four children only two survive him.
He moved to Orchard, Nebraska in 1886, and engaged in farming. His wife died and is burled there.
One brother Wilbur D. Knibbs who is permitted to attend these rites, and two granddaughters, Tressa and Thelma Rodman also survive him.
Our brother moved to Ogallala, Nebraska in the fall of 1915 where he has since made his home
His Masonic history is as follows:
Initiated Nov. 18th, 1881, at Verona, Illinois; passed March 4, 1882; and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. March 25th 1882.
After moving to Orchard, Nebraska, in 1893 he affiliated with Pythogoras Lodge No. 156 at Ewing, Nebraska.
When Diamond Lodge No. 291, of Royal, Nebraska was constituted be affiliated with it in 1913.
He demitted to Ogallala Lodge No. 159, A. F & A. M., October 7th, 1919.
Our brother has been a faithful and valued member of Ogallala Lodge, and the brethren will recall many happy experiences together.
He departed this life Sunday evening, June 12th at 10:30 o'clock, aged 71 years, one month and fifteen days.
He was a close friend to our departed brother Uncle Dick James, and our own beloved and lamented "Uncle Bob"
