Notes for George Henry L KNIBBS:
1872
The Woodstock Baptism Register shows that George Henry was born in July 1872, the son of Mary. There is no reference to the name of the father so it can be concluded that Mary wasn't married.
Interestingly, in 1870, two years prior to the birth of George Henry, Harriet Jane Knibbs (an older sister of Mary) married a George Henry Albury. Is the the naming of Mary's son, George Henry more than pure coincidence? Or, did George Henry Albury perhaps have an affair with his sister-in-law?
1881
George appears in the 1881 census for England and Wales aged 8 years, living with his grandmother Ann Knibbs and mother at Back Lane, Woodstock, Oxfordshire.
1883
The mystery deepens when, in 1883, some 11 years after the birth of William Henry Knibbs, Mary eventually marries to William Charles Albury, the brother of George Henry Albury.
1891
George Henry Knibbs appears in the 1891 census for Brackley, Northamptonshire as a visitor, aged 19, Factory Glove Maker, living at that time at 87 High Street in the Parish of Culworth.
1897
Who was the George Henry Liddiard who was witness at George Henry Knibbs marriage to Elizabeth Birchley in 1897? Could he perhaps be his father, there to witness his son being married. Could the "L" in George Henry L Knibbs be for "Liddiard", after his father perhaps?
We will never know!
1901
George also appears aged 28 years living at Woodstock, Oxfordshire in the 1901 census, living with his wife Elizabeth and sons George and Harry. His occupation is given as Rural Postman.

Notes for Elizabeth BIRCHLEY:
Elizabeth's father was James Birchley, a labourer.
Details in the 1901 census give "Glom Brown Green" as her place of birth. However, looking at the 1881 census, there is an Elizabeth Burchley, of the right age, living at "Broms Green, Dymock, Gloucestershire". She was born at Dymock, Gloucestershire.
The following is from the 1881 census:
James BURCHLEY Head W Male 63 Bromsberrow, Gloucester, England Ag Lab
James BURCHLEY Son U Male 19 Dymock, Gloucester, England Ag Lab
Annie BURCHLEY Daur Female 14 Dymock, Gloucester, England Scholar
Elizabeth BURCHLEY Daur Female 10 Dymock, Gloucester, England Scholar
Eliza BURCHLEY Daur Female 7 Dymock, Gloucester, England Scholar
The GRO records show her as being born Oct-Dec 1873 in the district of Newent, Gloucestershire, England. The village of Dymock is about 5 miles North East of Newent. Her name is given as Birchley, and not Burchley.
