Emma was the illegitimate daughter of Sarah Butler who, six months after the birth of Emma, married Richard Knibbs at Swerford. It is not known for sure if Richard was Emma's father. Emma went on to have an illegitimate son who was baptised at Swerford as William Knibbs.
