Marriage Notes for Joseph KNIBBS\Sarah WYATT:
Witness to the marriage was John Tavenner.
Sarah and Joseph were listed as of the Banbury parish.
Notes for Joseph KNIBBS:
I'm not sure of the reason, but it looks like three of Joseph and Sarah's children were living with someone else at the time of the 1841 census return, at Burton Dassett, Warwickshire, England.
WYATT Ann F 60 Independant
KNIBBS Elizabeth F 11
KNIBBS James M 6
KNIBBS Sarah F 3
I'm guessing that Ann Wyatt was their grandmother
__________
In 1861, Joseph, Sarah and their youngest son James (aged 25 and a boatman) were living at West Bromwich. Joseph's occupation was given as Boatman. There were also three visitors listed in the household:
Joseph Knibbs Head 60 Boatman Oxford Banbury
Sarah Knibbs Wife 52 Oxford Banbury
James Knibbs Son 25 Boatman Oxford Banbury
John Stretch Visitor 25(?) Boatman Cheshire (?)
Sarah Stretch Visitor 24 Oxon Banbury
Alise Stretch Daur 9 mths Cheshire Hasslingdon(?)
We believe the visitors are Joseph's daughter Sarah Ann with her husband and daughter.
___________
Joseph and Sarah can be seen at 1871 living at Ridgacre, Worcestershire, England with their daughter Elizabeth and her husband John MARTIN, who by this time had another three children, Sophia, Clara and Martha. Their daughter Angelina doesn't appear so we presume she died between 1861 and 1871. Joseph and Sarah are listed as Father and Mother in Law so clearly it was John's household.
Joseph Knibbs abt 1794 Banbury Oxfordshire England Father-in-law Ridgacre Worcestershire
Sarah Knibbs abt 1807 Banbury Oxfordshire England Mother-in-law Ridgacre Worcestershire
__________
Joseph and Sarah can be seen in the 1881 census, living at Hagley Road, Ridgacre, Worcestershire with their daughter Elizabeth, son-in-law John Martin and their five grandchildren:
John MARTIN Head M Male 53 Darlaston, Stafford, England Iron Puddler
Elisabeth MARTIN Wife M Female 50 Banbury, Oxford, England
Clara J. MARTIN Daur U Female 14 Greets Green, Stafford, England
Martha A. MARTIN Daur U Female 12 Beech Lanes, Worcester, England Scholar
Sophia E. MARTIN Daur U Female 9 Beech Lanes, Worcester, England Scholar
James W. MARTIN Son U Male 6 Beech Lanes, Worcester, England Scholar
Samuel D. MARTIN Son U Male 4 Beech Lanes, Worcester, England Scholar
Joseph KNIBBS Father In Law M Male 90 Banbury, Oxford, England
Sarah KNIBBS Mother In Law M Female 74 Banbury, Oxford, England
I suspected that Joseph's date of birth was given incorrectly in the 1881 census. He was baptised in 1799, so I assumed he was born at about that time. Having found a record of his death giving his age at death as 92 in the year 1881, then I suspect he was baptised at the age of 10 years.
