This family unit, less John the father, John jr. and Isaac appears in one household at Niagara in 1850.
It is noted from the 1850 New York census that David NIBBS 23 is living with Anne 53, Naomi 30, Charles 28, and Ellen 20 all born England.

Naomi may well be an error in the census or the transcription for the name Nehemia. Nehemia was a boy.

They were living next door to a family headed by a man named Horrace Coffin who was a brickmaker by trade. John Knibbs snr. was also a brickmaker.

No baptism record has been found for Charles. Those who have researched this Charles in the US believe he was born in Devon on 15th February 1821. This information is purported to come from a family bible which sadly, is no longer available to the Knibbs researchers. However, a similar entry exists in a family bible ("Hitchcock's New and Complete Analysis of the Holy Bible" published in 1877) belonging to Ken Close, who is descended via the line of Charles Knibbs.
There's no baptism for Charles in Deddington or Somerton where the other children were baptised. Similarly, no baptism record has been found for the daughter Mary Ann. So, it is possible that Charles parents moved into Devonshire seeking work before they emigrated to New York.

Amongst Henry Herbert Knibbs the famous cowboy poet's papers currently contained in the archives at Stanford University, California, there are the immigration papers for Henry's ancestors which without checking, I would presume to be those of John Knibbs, his wife Ann and their children in 1830.

Notes for Ann ALDRIDGE:

Manitowoc Genealogy web site
lists Ann in the 1860 census living at city of Two Rivers, 1st Ward, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA.
Ann Knibbs 71 F -- -- -- England
She appeared to be living with Rufus Batchelder 34 (a Sailor), his wife Almira Batchelder 24 and daughter Eveline J. Batchelder

John wasn't with her so we assume he died before then.

Notes for Nehemiah KNIBBS:

We aren't 100% sure, but we believe that Nehemiah later used the name Henry KNIBBS. Nehemiah seemed to disappear and Henry KNIBBS, of the same age and in the same location appeared, so we suspect Nehemiah and Henry are the same person. However, that's still a conjecture and needs to be proved.

Henry KNIBBS married Catherine FISHER in 1875.

So, despite not being 100% sure of the connection, I've acquired lots of data from Alan Jackson of the K/NIBB/S One Name Study which takes us from Henry KNIBBS and his wife Catherine FISHER through to current times. I do have contact with several of the current generation, and hope one day to prove conclusively that there is a connection. In an effort to find help in proving the connection I have decided to make the data available on the web site, but to avoid confusion, I have kept it slightly separated and until proven otherwise, it is stored in the "Unplaced KNIBBS" section.
